Still can’t believe it, dug my first ever gold coin 1852 1 dollar gold coin. The Nox 800 locked on solid “12” and I was sure I was digging another Jefferson or Buffalo nickel. Boy was I surprised after digging a plug between 4/5 inches I would be staring at the very discernible “1” Dollar on the reverse. Not until I picked it up did it hit me what I had just recovered-my first ever gold coin, 1852 1dollar coin.

These small dollar coins are out there diggers but you have to be willing to dig low numbers and low tones. Hav I not dug “12” solid lock on VDI numbers they were nickels I would never had dug this coin. Happy hunting!

Now that is downright SPECTACULAR!!!!

HUGE congrats to you!

Are you willing to share what TYPE of site it was? Park? Private yard? Church yard? Relic site? Civil War site? Farm field?

You just joined an elite club, with that dig...

OUTSTANDING!!!

No problem sharing; a farm in PA part of the Gettysburg campaign during June 1863, we dug many Yankee and Reb plates and buttons from this site
