Beginner's metal detector?

Would this be good metal detector for a kid? I don't want invest too much until I am sure he likes this hobby.

People here use that same detector, I'm sure you'll get some input. I suggest waiting a few days and slowly bid up to budget level and no more. Other good ones out there for under $300. Better advice will be along shortly.

Jammer I paid about $80 new for that machine new, so watch how high the bid goes. Sorry I can't help with whether or not it's a good kids machine, I guess it depends on the size of the kid, but it's simple and easy to use.
