Wanted to get back into black powder hunting, to squeeze a few more weeks out of hunting season.

Picked up a Traditions Buckstalker .50cal

I want to put a 3 x 9 on it, so also picked up a base and a set of medium height rings.

Owners manual has no torque specs, mount and rings came with no torque specs...

Emailed Traditions customer support 3 weeks ago, no response...

Any recommendations on inch pounds torque to properly mount?

Thanks

I learned something today! I generally just snugged everything up until it felt about 'right'.. Lord! No wonder the only shots I remember are the ones I missed! The Inch Pounds got me!

I better go outside and check my lugnuts!....they felt about right last time..

16 in pounds on rings.
30 in pounds on actual mount screws.

This comes from hawke crossbow scope manual I have.
Crossbows recoil pretty good too.

I too go by the german torque spec 'gudentight'

You may also want to google the scope rings manufacturer. I know on the Vortex rings I use they vary a little depending on size and model.

The torque specs that I quoted were from Leupold.

Congrats on getting 4 tags! :waytogo: That should stock the freezer. :fridge:

I watched a buck for about ten minutes out my front window yesterday.

What do you need a scope for? Barrel sight with a smooth bore on a flintlock if you want some fun!

Have a TC Hawken. Lots of fun you're right.

Scope for low-light conditions.

Just messing with you. I use iron sights on my Hawken too. I don't have the chops to make a clean shot on a moving target using the bayonet lug alone. I only use that in a tree stand with a well paced out range card.;)
