Navy button

Found this button today and thought this should be easy to ID. Then after looking for a bit I couldn't find one exactly like it. My first thought was British Navy, but the buttons I found the rope is going down to the right at the top of the anchor. Am I missing something? It looks spot on other than that.

Yeah most likely British, there is lots of different ones so not a real surprise if it doesn't exactly match more you compare it to.
 
Yup, looks to be British..that style of button came to use in 1774, and indeed with lots of variations...rope going different ways and such.
Some ranks used it until 1860 so there's a time bracket...I'd say your button is earlier one.

Probably about 1820 or so.
