Cellar hole hunt*civil war eagle buckle?

sniffy picked me up at 7am and we headed up to a couple holes in his neck of the woods.was digging big iron pieces.my fourth target read half dollar at 4 inches.i dug a square nail and was saying it's gonna be one of them iron days :no:

then a flat piece of rusty iron came out of the hole.scanned the hole again and figuring there was still more iron in the hole i was digging carelessly when this buckle popped out :shock:

.i nicked it with my shovel.

still more iron was in the hole and a brass piece too.so much stuff in one hole and was not expecting this find that's for sure.
sniffy got skunked.my only other decent find was the flat button.no coins,no coppers but would really like to know if this is a union civil war eagle belt plate? any idea on the value would be appreciated too.

Man Dave that's a nice buckle. I have no idea but I'm sure is a goodie.. Stay warm, it was cold out there today with the wind..

A sword plate buckle. And it only took literally 4 miles of hiking to retrieve. Today was awesome, regardless of my finds. No worries. And I'm not in hot water either.

this may be a virgin hole we found?way too many big targets at this site.if it was hit before they did a lousy job! anyways...no george is in second place with 33 coppers,del is in first with 35 and me i'm in third place with 31.not much time left until jan 1st when contest ends.i don't see me getting out that much in the next 2 weeks so...i guess i'll finish in last place :no:

I think it would be priced at $350-$500, I haven't seen on for $200 unless it is damaged by more than a nick. The tongue on yours seems wider than most. But there were many different variants of that same buckle that were produced. I have one I found with two rows of stars above the banner.
