Wow..... a Star Base! We have found some Swag Base here at our camp and a nearby picket post, but I have never found a Star. Great finds!

Yep! Hey, could that mystery piece perhaps be some type of finale... like the latch for a cartridge box? The ones I've found are different but that was my first thought we I saw it.

I'm guessing it's a strap rivet,possibly off a knapsack, although it looks like a cartridge box finial also.

Was thinking maybe the snap on some of the old chest . The hasp snapped down over the small brass object . Very cool piece .

Maybe it's my imagination, but the silver thing towards the bottom right looks similar to the OP's mystery item to me. This was posted here at the forum........

Yes it does buddy. I've dug a couple that are gold guilted in old picnic grounds. I've found them in camps also.

I've got another one of those in my finds box from this year. Its gold washed & will post a pic when I get home. I was sorting out my finds today putting the correct I'd on them from the different camps I hunt.
