Wethersfield/Hartford Ct new to detecting

Hi, I am new to detecting and looking for anyone who is local or was local and can offer tips, tricks, etc. Have advice on where to hunt and were NOT to.

Some spots I was thinking about.

Railroad tracks running through town (I believe these have been here 100 years or more)
Meadows in Wethersfield, Rocky Hill and Glastonbury
Site of the old Prison in Wethersfield (torn down in 60's)
Local parks
