Residents of New York are likely to become more involved in treasure hunting for lost gold artefacts this summer due to the increased value of the precious metal, it has been suggested.

President of the Empire State Metal Detector Association Bob Lundy stated that the city will be subject to "one hell of a gold rush" in the coming months, the Daily News reports.
