I bought my Ace250 late last year (cold weather).
Since the weather is warm now, the skid plate for
the standard coil falls off. This doesn't surprise me...
...plastic expands !

Questions:

#1 Has anyone else out there had this problem ?
#2 Is there a good way to tighten the fit ?  (Not too
impressed with the tape I'm using now.)

Thanks for any ideas or advice you care to give.

One suggestion would be to use clear silicone sealant to seal the gap around the top of the coil cover. Serves a dual purpose, keeps the cover on, and prevents dirt and sand from getting between the cover and the coil.

Whats a skid plate ?
I can say that I haven't had things fall off my Ace after a year of hard use.

I'd try Garrett, as they have a rep for excellent customer service, but the silicone idea Hoser made works just as well, and maybe even better. Good luck!

Thanks hoser, Jeff@middlesex, X-Ray and
Treasurekidd for replies on the subject problem.

Sorry I used the wrong term, but hey, this could
be a new item for the glossary (skidplate = coil
cover).

Hoser, I like your idea of using silicone sealant, but
will see if I can mooch a free replacement from
Garrett first. Depending on how this works out, I
may use the sealant  idea later. Actually, I thought
of this, but wanted other opinions.

Will call Garrett tomarrow and post results
on this forum tomarrow evening (if I can kick wifey off computer solitaire card game for a bit )

Thanks again 'tectorbuddies !

Hi ....hoser, Jeff@middlesex, X-Ray & Treasurekidd !

Sorry I'm late reporting results of my contact with
Garrett re my loose coin cover, but here goes.

The people I spoke with were not aware of this
problem happening in the past, nevertheless, they
kindly agreed to send me a free replacement !
Should have it by the end of this week.

Thanks again !

All's well that ends well !

I used electrical tape around the outside and it worked great. I took the tape off to clean the sand out of it the other day and I could not get the cover off! I am confused as to why it "stuck" on there! Anyway, that seems to work for me. I like the silicone idea too.

Hi  ModernDayWarrior and Local_Coins !

Thanks for your suggestions on fixing a loose coil
cover.

My replacement cover from Garrett arrived today
and I'm glad to say it fits much tighter than the
original !
