Found this buckle and am looking for help figuring out what kind and how old it might be. It is about 1-1/4 inches long by 3/4 in wide and has an ornate design on each edge. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it was found on the East Coast in Pennsylvania, in the vicinity of the Gettysburg area.

Thanks for the help with the id of this piece. It's very much appreciated. I'm very excited about this one!

At that size I would guess knee buckle, shoe buckles are bigger.

From the size and the fact the center pin would run length-wise and not width-wise like a shoe buckle , it is a colonial knee buckle
