Didn’t get out as much as We would have liked
but my son & I did manage to grab a couple
nice items.

As far as “first” go, he got both our first sterling
spoon & a nice capped bust half dime. I managed
our first New England spur. Love getting new surprises.

Attached are a couple of photos of what we got for our efforts.
Silver coin count was down & no gold this year. We
still enjoyed the time we spent together, & are looking
forward to the new season.

Hope all had a great 2017 & wish you all well for
2018.

Thanks cellrdwellr,

My son's 1st three silvers of the yr. were those two & the seated.
We thought we were really gonna rip it up this yr. but unfortunately
things slowed a bit.

Sorry about the crappy phone pict. Glad you were able to notice. :grin:

BTW, the capped, only our second, (both) came from MA !

There is hope yet! Thanks for the encouraging words :laughing: I have a little guy, but he's really little 18 months so we got a little ways to go until he can tag along, we should be able to dig for a couple days now that the snow is gone :grin: happy hunting!

I saw those down there too,I had to look closely!

Hell of a nice selection Chas! It might be just a little better year than you thought,three or four of those coins ain’t easy to find! Well done!

Makes sure you build a big collection before
he starts detecting.
My son & I started together & he kicks my
butt frequently. 😅

Seriously though, keep at it. Many of my favorite finds have
come from MA. You’re in a great location.

TY beephead,

Our last hunt together gave us the
Spur, spoon, barber half, an 1870’s Spanish
centimo, & an IH. While not the average
day, certainly both memorable & enjoyable.

Didn’t want to sound like I was complaining.
Sorry ! My only complaint was not being able
to get out as frequently as we would have wished.
Believe me, we are truly delighted to have been lucky enough
to have been able to make some of these finds.
 
Any year that includes a spectacle and complete shoe buckles, capped bust, trime, SLQ, seated's, barber's and LC's is one heck of year!

For the limited time we were able to hunt, we were indeed fortunate.

I noticed that you have found a MA penny at some point. It along
with any tree coin is right up there on my bucket list. Congrats !

Getting more & more difficult to find good hunting spots, here's hoping
2018 provides us with some nice opportunities.

For not getting out much as you wanted to.....
You did quite well, with a nice "class of coins"
Hope that you get out a little more this year,
and bring your finds to "SHOW AND TELL" :D
