Surprised at the new Excal o-rings

Was replacing the knobs on the Excal II so it would be easier to inspect the o-rings in the future (removable with hex wrench) and was surprised at how dry they were from the factory. I can see how these would dry out and crack from salt if one were to submerge it when new thinking it was good, then wait a year to check them. When I removed the factory knobs it had whatever Minelab uses to secure the nut under the yellow cap all over the shaft and o-ring (blue dry crumbly loctite type of stuff).
