Got out for a bit today at an old CCC camp that's been pounded. Very first signal at the spot was in the nickel range on the CTX, but out popped some yellow instead! Antique broach thing, marked 14k. A little bit later my buddy was yelling for me to come over with the GoPro. I bend down and look in the hole and there's a freaking cannon ball! We washed it off in a nearby puddle and holy cow there's a fuse in it and marked 12 as in 12 pound ball!!! We started getting pretty excited because there were known civil war camps at certain spots around the bluffs throughout this old state park before it was a park. We were talking about how this would be an interesting story for the news LIVE CANNON BALL FOUND IN STATE PARK. Boy that would have been embarrassing because someone more knowledgeable about Civ filled us in that it's actually an antique shot put.
