hi all, i was planning on going to Millerton lake in California this week but found out that it is a state park and was wondering if it would be illegal to metal detect there? I saw one website said that it is legal but you need permission, so i'm not sure what to do :?:

It's a SRA, State Recreation Area. I'm sorry I can't help much more - it seems like you may be able to detect but then disturbing the ground (digging) seems to be not allowed. I'd call and ask - they have a number listed on the website. But then never know if the person you get a hold of really knows either.

Be interesting to see if anyone else can post some information. Sorry I'm not much help.

i was actually planning on going in the lake and detecting , not sure if that still would count as disturbing the ground if i'm digging in the water lol

Bring detector and ask, I suppose. Not sure if you can or not - seems different areas have different rules? Let us know what happens i you can! Happy hunting.
