I found this copper arrow head. It's about 2 inches tall, 1.5 inches wide. The finish on the front is hammered. The back has a smashed ring.

The ring looks too small for this to be a napkin ring, so I'm thinking it might have been something for scouting, like a ceremonial flag pole tip.

Does anyone have an idea of what this is?

Maybe a BSA neckerchief slide, homemade project...

Oh, that's a very good call! I could see that, for sure!

As heavy as this is, it's not a wonder that it fell off beside the trail! I think it's pretty old, judging by the patina on it.

Thanks, Ice!

Part of a bolo tie?

It kind of looks like it, but (and you can't see this in the pictures) the dual loops that you'd need for a bolo are not equal. I believe that this is a neckerchief slide. The size of the ring is correct for it, and I did find a few similar neckerchief slide examples on the web (though certainly not exactly like this).

Cheers!

It is the arrowhead neckerchief slide from Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Would always be worn point side down, never up. I have one like it from my trip to Philmont in 1964.

Great find!
I found one at a old scout camp two seasons ago now in my scouting items collection.
