What is this?

It was found in the corn field.
It looks like some kind of a form, or holder for a bullet, or an arrow?? It's made of brass, it's 1/8" thick, 1 1/2" tall, and 1 1/4" accross the bottom. The back is flat.

Looks like 1/2 of a hinge base/socket, as in the top of a door knocker that is attached to the door.

The rounded grooves appear to be the swivel point.

That's my best guest
