Piece of old conveyor belt, a few pop rivets, a straight edge and a utility knife…

Most of the pop rivets that I have ever used protrude on the back side. That's why I was interested in seeing the back. I would think that would be uncomfortable. Do you use some sort of a washer to keep them from pulling through? I generally use the two piece rivets like you get for leather work at Tandy's.

The ace hardware near me has packs of washers that fit the rivets in the same place as the rivets. If not you could use any appropriate sized washer you find in the bulk fastener area

To those concerned about using rivets, maybe "Chicago screws" are an option?
