Morning all,

Took the nox to the local freshwater beach. Easy access, every detector and his brother has been there for 60 years.

Just wanted to see what the machine would do and how it behaved. No real expectations. Also wanted to collect some tone/VDI data on what I found.

Settings:
  • Park 2
  • FE Bias 0
  • Sensitivity 20-25
  • Recovery speed 9
  • Discrimination -negative numbers only then shifted to discriminating -9 to 1, 3-6, 9,9,14 & 17 based on data collected the past few hunts.

Anything that gave a hit I then checked with all metal to see what I could isolate. I also on occasion used beach 2 to see what I could isolate.

First off I was really impressed with the depth, especially with small stuff and no iron nearby. Picked up one of those old aluminum lock ring tabs, just a single segment from an aluminum soda bottle screw cap at about 12 inches. I also got a brass pin backing down at 10 inches in wet sand.

I'm also becoming the king of the bottle cap and nickles.

Didn't get much other than trash this time around but I did find a shiny thing with some sparklies..... My First 10K gold ring! missing a couple of stones (chips) and it's between 1 and 2 grams but it's treasure!

I also found a domed piece of metal (to the right of the ring) it hit real solid tone bouncing between 12 and 32 while in the ground and out of the ground gave a solid 29 30.

Can't see it in that pic but it has what looks to be a broken tab on one end, perhaps a handle? Not sure what it may have been.

It is also shown dome down on the left side in one of the group shots. You might see the broken tab. Any insight would be welcome.

Pics below show it all.
