Field Of Bells

Been hunting a cornfield with an old house site on it. Been finding bells there. Not sure what they were used for. But I am getting quite a pile of them. Went back tonight and.. another bell

Some look like pewter, others look like bronze. Still lots of field to hunt.
 
Wow, those are amazing. I love bells. Do they still have the ringer attached inside. Those are really, really neat. Great job on finding so many too. That is really curious. Hopefully someone else knows what they might have been used for. Congrats!
 
They look to be sheep bells. From the pics they look too small for cow bells. Excellent finds BTW! Good job.
 
They could have been bells strung on a leather strap attached to a horse and wagon as well.
 
Those things are great!!! Nice find! Did you sweep the soil again after digging the bells? I would think that at least some of the ringers would be close to the bells :?: Regardless I think you have some very nice finds.
