I tried out a new spot yesterday in an old forest site and in the first 5 mins I dug a 1923 wheat @ 1" deep...Im thinkin wow this is going to be a good site! Then I dug a 1910 right next to it! I started to pinpoint on top of the ground and it was buzzing like mad! Im like ok those all can not be old coins :?: ....So I start swining my at pro and its sounding like a casino with high tones and numbers!

I sat and pinpointed - 73 pennys from 1900 to 1956 in a 4 foot area - 2 IH's! AND A 1909 VDB!!!! ...I was boggled as to why there were so many old pennys in one spot- deep in the woods?!...Then I noticed the broken half burried treasure box! They sure are nice pennys... not typical for these parts- so im guessing the chest preserved them for some time or these were not in the ground for 50+ years and possibly stashed or dumped by modern day pirates..

-HAPPY HUNTING-

You just dug every metal detectorist dream... Who knows how the coins got out of the box, maybe a animal or something dug it up & spilled out the coins.. If I was you I'd snap some pictures of the box & coins and post it on Garrett's find of the month..

Sweet cache find there Dig. You just never know what you'll run across up in these woods. Keep it up.

I just threw my 5 MD's across the room...LOL....NOT>.....That is so cool.....I have only 5 wheats and that is good for California....and you get a nice score like this...I would be using a rabbit to wipe something after that find....LOL>..nice.
