AT Pro Headphone Question

Last week the small pin on my headphone connector broke off. I contacted Garrett and they sent me a new set of headphones under warranty. Great! My only question is, my original set of headphones had a switch for Mono or Stereo. The new set does not have this switch. I could care less as long as they work and I am grateful Garrett covered it under warranty but I was wondering what the difference is between them. Does anyone know, just out of curiosity.

I asked Garrett about the difference and they told me the switch is not needed with the AT- Pro and AT-Gold.

I never understood the need for that switch, and is does not make a difference which position it is on with mine....

Are there detectors that need a stereo type of setup, like iron in the left ear and silver on the right? :?:

I keep one ear turned all the way down anyway, I'm glad for that feature for sure...
