I have been detecting for 5 years now and I have found 4 of my 5 oldest coins this year! Finding the old old stuff is why I got into this hobby, to me, the older the better. I am curious about the oldest coins everyone else has found over the years. So post your oldest coin you have ever found in the US, copper, silver, or both.

Here I have my oldest Copper, which is a 1689 William and Mary British Copper I found last year at an old house site. It's very worn, so it's hard to see, but there are two faces on the front, and the date was more clear on the back when I first found it. It is very difficult to make out from a photograph. I have found 2 more coppers this year from the 1690's. The silver coin is a 1721 Spanish 2 Reales I found this last month in an old area now covered with woods.

Can't wait to see yours!

Well. Hard to compete

Found in dry sand at Crystal Cove SB.

I may have a wheat @ 1930 but it is too toasted to see the "3" but if I had to guess.

One of these days I'll get some old coins, and boy wouldn't I really dig finding one, just a matter of time. Need some.

This was my first seated coin...I'll never forget the day.

Found this 1843 dime, an 1853 dime and 5 musket balls in the same spot.
