Found a good deal on a Sov GT and a WOT and standard 10" coil.

Figured it would be nice for the dry/wet sand at the beach.

I am primarily a dirt hunter year round.

Do you recommend using a meter for the dirt?

If so which one?

I have a pretty decent stable of detectors as it is.................just wanted to another machine for the beach as this seems look the right tool for the job!

What are some settings I should start off with?

Dirt Setting:

Sand Setting:

Thanks and HH!

No setting really as far as dirt/sand go. You have the choice between all metal and disc. and a notch control.

I would say a meter would come in handy if land hunting. Can help save a lot of digging ubtill you learn the tones. The tones are so close together that i have a bit of problem with them. Old body / old ears.

The problem is finding a good meter.

Good luck and keep us informed.

I have learned with my Sovereign Elite, if I run in ALL METAL MODE (as opposed to DISC MODE), Variable Tone with disc and notch both at ZERO and sensitivity at MAX, I will hit on targets deeper than if I run in DISC MODE when hunting the beach. Also, and I don't know if your results will be the same on a GT, I find that in AM Mode and Variable Tone that metals that would "NULL" in DISC Mode, shriek at me in a very high pitch tone.

Thanks for the replies,

I will post when it gets here and see what I can figure out!

What meter is preferred?

The 550 or the 300 style?
