My Fisher F2 recently started going crazy. It will work ok sometimes but then it starts beeping in the iron range very quickly when I go over any metal type. I posted a video so that I could demonstrate exactly what it's doing.

I just got it about 4 months ago and it never did this until the last couple of times I went detecting. It does the same thing with both my 8" and sniper coil so I don't think it's a coil problem. I'd hoped it was just a random glitch that would be temporary, but it doesn't seem to be going away.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is my detector broken?

Funky battery connection is my guess. Not all 9v batteries are dimensionally the same, and a poor contact makes F2's go all squirrily.

I put in a new set of batteries and I think that fixed it. I tested the detector and haven't been able to replicate the issue again. I'll take take it for a hunt tommorrow to make sure.

Thanks Longhair!

An F2 will also give that machine gun sound when it is close to the target. Whenever I hear that I look for a target on the surface.
