Has anyone taken apart and fixed a Sovereign GT rechargeable battery? Mine lasts only a few minutes and the GT goes nuts when it goes low. I have extra batteries but at a 100 a pop I was hoping to replace the bad cells with new ones.

It should be possible, i have opened mine up by mistake and it was just a bunch of cells. If you can buy replacements cell and tab them together properly by soldering you should be fine. There are a few youtube videos about changing cells in this like cordless drills, might give you an idea how it is done...

somewhat, but the availability from the factory was passed, if I remember correctly.

Thanks, guys I'll try the Batteries Plus route before I try it myself.

Or... you could build a lipo battery.

Check here: Instructions

I have the parts, but never got around to doing it. Let me know if you’re interested.

For do it yourselfers keep in mind that most rechargeable batteries are 1.2 volts and the detector needs a minimum of 9 volts to operate. So 1.2 volt batteries do not power it for very long.
