1/4 Victoria penny--1840s

I hunted in the woods today not far from where I found the 1865 two cent piece and found this cut English penny. I did a lot of google searches and found that it is a Victoria penny from the 1840s or possibly 1850s.
I guess a penny was worth a lot back then but I did not know that they cut them. The different colors of the pictures are due to different camers settings.
The picture of the front is the true color. HH :grin: :grin:

That's an interesting find, I've never seen a bronze or copper penny cut in half or quartered.
The only cut coins I have seen, have been silver hammered.

I can only assume there was a shortage of farthings, so that's why they cut pennies.

Would this be from Canada ?
 
It is from norther illinois, USA. It was a surprise to me also.
