Anyone have success with rechargable batteries. I am looking to see how much I would have to hunt to make the inital extra cost worth while? I am new but have been getting out 2x a week give or take a hunt or two. I have been out about 10-15x from anywhere from 1 hour to 5 hours and my bar is getting a bit low.

Looking for any advice on brands, how long they typically last(do I need an extra set for long hunts), do they have to be alkaline, etc...

Also have a Garrett Propointer, with they work on that as well?

Thanks and HH,

I'm in the process of evaluating some NiMH rechargeables I bought last week for my Fisher F2.

I got 2 Tenergy 200 mAh 9 volt batteries with charger from Amazon for about 12 bucks shipped. They fit just fine in the battery compartment and I have about 10 hours on a charged set so far. I'm curious to see what the total run time will be but for the money I couldn't be happier.

I use Sanyo 1500 rechargeable in my Etrac. I get between 11-12 hours on my Etrac. And they will hold 95 percent of their charge after one year.

Thanks for the info! Please let me know how long they last. Mine are getting low, so all the info would be much appreciated!!

Do you know the number of mAh on these batteries? Thanks!

i got the exact same set but the 250 mah--they work really well. once they start dying, though, they go dead pretty quickly if they haven't seen the charger for a while. i can hunt all day on a set, though.

They are 2000 mAh. I have a set of powerex that are 2700 mAh. I have been using both for over two years now. These battery's are made in Japan . Be sure to use a smart charger also.

Correct Plante,
I have been using tenergy recharge batteries for 3 years now and I have two of the chargers. You can also use the 9v in the pointer. I have the f2 and f5 and they work great in both. However, I tend to use a regular 9v in the garrett since they last a long time and I just go to harbor freight for the cheap 9v for the pointer.

I get maybe 20 hours? I use them one weekend and I am going to use today without recharge to see how they do with a week off

Pulling the trigger soon but have 2 options and looking for some opinions! Below are the options only $1 difference but 50 NiHM difference, and both have similar high ratings. I assume to get the higher NiHM but you know what happens when you assume!

Let me know your thoughts! Thanks

Just found this one as well:

500 mAh, now I'm really confused as they are very similar in price.

Hi all, I pulled the trigger last week and have been using the below since I got them. The first set I used for just over 9 hours before I started getting random signals, swapped them out with the second set and no more false signals! Currently over 6 hours on them and have the other charged and ready to go today. I will try to keep you posted but so far so good! I was getting around 18-24 hours on Everready at $2.00+*2 so $4 for 21 hours give or take. Break even point is 189 hours. Rechargables $36 w shipping/$4 = I could by 9 sets of EveryReady's *21 hours = 189 hours/9 hours from Rechargable = 21 recharges = Break even.

Someone double check that math

I typically get 9-12 hours per week so 15-21 weeks I will be golden, but I will also not have to worry about having an extra pair as I will always have one set ready to go!!

Green 300mah GTL (not BTY they are too tall) and black 350mah 9v on ebay work great in f2 and teknetics.

last about 1/3 as long as alkaline and run at 9.6v instead of 8.4v like some nimh do.

us a 20mah slow charger for best results. ($3)
