I found this item in the yard of my hunting buddy. He says his house is pre 1900s, and the yard is much larger than those that are around him. I wonder if it was used as a homemade plumb bob? Others think it might be a hoop skirt weight, while another suggested it may be part of some American Indian jewelry. It appears that the center hole has been worn a bit from what was strung through it while the gray patina suggests that its old.

Any ideas?

Thanks for looking.

Sorry i didn’t see this post. If you’ve confirmed that it’s lead, check my comment on your other post. :)

Scratched the other side, and its probable lead. Weighty too.

A picture with something to compare size would help. Perhaps a coin or similar common item.

Sorry. Its about the size of a quarter and about 1/8" thick. The center hole is the same diameter of an 1/8th inch. Definitely homemade.

X2 on the hem weight. If you look at the pic, at 8:00 and 2:00 in the center hole, there appears to be a flat spot which might indicate that there was a bar across the hole.
