so I found a crusty clad quarter & decent wheatie (49) at the beach the other day

I have glass beads in my Snap On blasting cabinet - I use it daily for my car restoration work

anyway the quarter was VERY crusty - I tried brass brushes but nothing touched it - the wheatie was not too bad but I wanted to try this out...

...the glass beads @ 80 psi are WAY too much for coin cleaning - the quarter didn't turn out to bad, but a few seconds more in the cabinet & that wheatie would be unrecognizeable

now I know....

Get yourself a rock tumbler.. works way better.. and even on the wheaties..

I'll try and get some before and after photo's for you later tonight..

for those beach incrusted coins, especially that quarter, I would have tried a white vinegar soak to dissolve the cement holding that sand on the quarter...don't know how quickly the vinegar would attack the exposed copper of that wheatie....probably pretty quickly unfortunately before it could get rid of the sand's cement on it.
