Through doing research I found the 24th Maine infantry regiment camped in my town. There were about 900 soldiers here for about 10 days. I had a rough idea where the encampment was but I think I may have finally stumbled on to it. I've found quite few fired and unfired bullets but no buttons or other relics...yet. Can any of you more informed people I'd these bullets? From what I've seen online I'm thinking sharps.

The bulk of those bullets look to small to be Civil war. The musketballs though are possible. They don't look to be in .50 caliber range. Whats the base diameter ?

I'm no expert, but I only see two, CW bullets..

Maybe others will chime in...

Sorry Not Civil War

Without have a mic put on it and having an exact diameter, I can't be 100%.

But, I'm pretty positive that you've dug a bunch 45-70 Indian War period bullets. These were shot for years after the Indian Wars so they may be late. In fact, these are still fired by some vintage shooters. So what state were they dug out of?

Thanks guys. Waterhead, after a little more research 45 70 seems likely. I found them in Maine on land where there was a documented encampment of a regiment leaving the state for the south. Most of the bullets were found in 2 locations close to each other.
