Civil War Cavalry Spur found Friday

Found this spur yesterday at a old home site out in the woods. Its a Model 1859 Union Spur, it is listed in Mr. Howard R. Crouch's book "Historic American Spurs" on page 34 listed as US 3. with the "about 10% of those Model 1859 spurs found will be of this variety, having a cast groove on the inner heel band. This was done to both strengthen and lighten the spur. This is the first spur I have found in 20 plus years of hunting and its a rare one fully intact. I'll take this over those Mercs dig any day.
