Lead and 2 questions

This is a piece of lead I dug today.
It came from an area where I am digging by the dozen bullet casings from the 40's and 50's.

VDI in the 20's. bounced around a little.
4 grams
lead with white oxidation.
combination of soil and clay.

1. is this anything or a random piece of lead?
2. how long would it take something like this to oxidize?

It looks like mice were gnawing on it

Looks like a bullet fragment to me. There is no real way to tell the age based on oxidation, it can occur in just a few years or take decades.

definitely a bullet fragment then since I have dug 50 casings that small area. And there are many more to dig.
Most of the coins I've dug there are the late 60's to early 70's with the bullet casings being 40's to 50's.
