possible civil war era button...need confirmation please

i found this in my old finds box from when i lived in georgia. i was toild this could be a good one. this was one of my first finds ever, using an old BH POS it was found at an old church that dated back to 1850. soldiers were rumored to have camped in and around the church several times during the war.

so i dont know, but it seems more modern to me. and it wasnt all that deep, maybe 3 inches. ( i know i know..that really doesnt mean anything)
