I was greatly surprised when I received this swiss army canvas with
leather pouch ,seeing it was a 1945 production ware !
It looks just as new as if it was yesterday made ! :wow:
I payed only 1 euro for it at an auction in -bay .The seller posted only a
photo of it with no more details.Saying it was only a "army pouch" ,I knew
it was old ,but thought from the 60's .... not from the 40's
This pouch is exactly what I need for relic hunting , 9 inches long and 6 inches wide.
To think that it was made only 4 years before I was born and still in pristine condition :D
It feels great to hunt at the fields with so an historical piece -something rugged
enough for the next years ahead:yes:

Wow

Pretty cool! You don't find those kind of buys very often. I would be afraid to use it in the field. I would hang it somewhere for display. I was born in 1945 ;)

I agree,
but life is short and we should enjoy it as much as possible everyday.
I will be careful enough to keep it clean and with a nylon bag for the relics inside.
So we both are from the 40's - they made good quality in that decade

I know what you mean about the quality of items from those days, it can't or won't be duplicated today. I used a WW2 web belt and medics bag for hunting from the time I was 15 until I was 40 and I never had a problem with it. I put in many a mile and went from summer heat to snowstorms to rain and it showed little wear.I also used a WW2 aluminum canteen and canteen pouch until I upgraded to a 60's era plastic canteen. i also had a few other items from the 40's and 50's era that never let me down.

This is exactly the point . I am after an aluminium canteen from the 60's which
comes with 2 aluminium cups .You can cook on the camp fire with them ...;)

you found a good deal there! and the best part is that case will likely outlast a new modern day product.
sew a couple small pieces of velcro on the corners for when you're hunting and use that strap/buckle when you're through for the day. ;)
