I decided to build a small electrolysis unit

Im not building one of those ones that uses a big bucket to hold the water but rather one that may use a medium sized container. i have found a 120 volt cord from an old answering machine I had.

would that be too much juice going thru and burn it up?

I hope you mean 12v cord, please be very careful when using electricity without the correct knowledge. Not trying to sound rude, only for the benefit of your safety.

its from an answering machine so i doubt its 120 prob 12dc around 300-500 ma.

Just to clear things up a little. Check YouTube for some videos. You DO NOT want to use AC current.

Look at the power supply and it should list what the outlet power is. Take a pic and post it and we can help ya out.

It's really not that difficult. You will have to turn your monitor upside down for example 2. :grin:
