I'm going to look for a platinum ring that was lost last summer in a grassy area and I'm try to decide should I use my etrac or mojave. I have never found platinum before so I will probably dig everything. But if it comes in higher than a pulltab it would cut down on how many targets I need to dig. It's next to a baseball diamond so I know there is going to be a lot of garbage. Any help would be appreciated.

Like foil range to zincoln.

No shortcuts really,,start digging.

Depth may be the best way to discriminate at least partially.

Ring's orientation can affect ID.
Good luck.

It is just a band. I'm hoping it will be very shallow so I can run the pro pointer on top of the ground so I'm not digging a lot. Thanks for the info. The good thing is the area has been narrowed down to about 10' wide and 40' long.

I would think that it would be pretty shallow or on the surface if it was lost last year. That should eliminate a lot of the trash signals.

FWIW I found a small, thin platinum ring with an ACE250 many years ago and it hit on the first notch above iron (small foil). Good luck!
