An FB acquaintance was chomping at the bit to find a phoenix button. Had been asking for advice on location potentials, machine settings, etc.... And since he was traveling through my part of CA , we agreed to meet up. And I would take him to a spot where a few had surfaced. Two that I shown on posts here recently. But I warned him that : The spot is real junky. And that it was very slim chances that any more keepers would surface. Homeless people camp out there, and we've already hammered it pretty hard.

After copious amounts of junk & clad, and a few teaser age indicators, he drew his first kill: A small #25 Phoenix button. Congratz Dave !

I got a super early suspender clip, and a heart-stopper 1920 merc. We had the chance to compare some flagged signals. So ... it was a fun hunt. Nice to meet you Dave. Hope you are able to parlay this knowledge into finding spots in your part of the state !

Those are cool buttons, Tom. You probably already told the story, but whats the history behind them that theyre found only in CA?

No, they're not "only found in CA". The largest concentrations were found in both the Columbia River area (which borders OR & WA), and in CA. And smatterings elsewhere @ the other states and elsewhere on the globe. But most on the west coast of the USA.

Tom , have gone to hunt the "French Camp" ?

So fort Vancouver area Tom? I intend to camp by Long Beach later this summer. Been slowing researching that area and down to Astoria.
