I haven't seen one of these threads in a while, and since I found my 'new' oldest coin today, I thought it would be interesting to start another one of these threads. Today I dug my oldest coin, an 1866 English Penny, at a favourite park of mine. It was a good 10/11in down with another penny, but an Australian one (1924). Apart from the big scratch I made (need to make my plugs bigger ) the coin is in pretty good condition, and by far the best condition English Penny I've found.

Here is my 1855 French ten dix. It gave a quarter reading and my ride was ready to leave so I got in a hurry and scratched it. At first I thought that it was a large cent.

1857 seated dime. I found it my second week of detecting 2 years ago with an ACE 150. After 2 years it still remains my oldest.

dug last week.
King George I Half penny, 1723

Not good condition but can read the date. I thought it was a US large copper when I picked it out of the hole.
Odd is that only other coins found at this abandoned farm are 1919,1916 & 1901.

Y'all have amazing finds. I've been detecting less than two months, and my local area was built in the 1960s-70s, but I'll play anyways because this coin is older than I'd have expected. And, it was a surface find, spotted under a tuft of grass while I was popping something else.

My oldest US silver coin is 1912 silver dime ( not that old, but i live in Northern Ireland)
Oldest UK silver, late 1100's, hard to find them much older around my way.
Prettiest silver, Elizabeth 6 pence, 1500's

Wonderful coins on this thread so far, each one!

Here are my current oldests in various categories - oldest overall (1853 Large Cent), oldest silver (1861 Seated Liberty dime), and oldest foreign (1939 Mexican Dos Centavos)...plus my “honorable mention”, ‘cuz I just love that 1857 Flying Eagle :D:

Recent farm field find. Seems when you find an old coin, you then want to find one from the previous decade.

67A.D. to 68A.D.

Year 2 of the Jewish Revolt. Minted in Jerusalem, and found on a Tel Aviv Beach (which was a major port at the time of the revolt).

I found this in early 2017, on the weekend of a business trip. Tried contacting the Israeli Antiquities, but they told me they couldn't require me to give it back, because it was out of country... they stopped communicating after I said, I'd be happy to send it back... So I kept it!

My oldest, found in the early spring. Worn and holed 1835 Capped Bust half dime. The county where I live was founded in 1838, so this was an exciting find.
