The wife came through with a pass for me for the afternoon so went to an area I thought the 4th Cavalry might have been, but I've never got to it. It was a gamble but with just the afternoon to hunt- I figured I might as well try it. Man, what a day!
8 four hole buttons
3 Eagle Buttons
1 full .50-70, 2 partial
2 buckles
Cinch Ring
Saddle ring
Horseshoe
Square Nails
Picket PIn That was still in place
AND...
Went out this afternoon and expanded search and team - had 4 with me today! Great teamwork! 2 MORE "E"s, an "I" and a "F" (not shown).
Are those knapsack hooks below the belt plate? What about the 2 hooks below and to the left of those?
Just the iron portion of belt plate, not sure what happened to brass.
What about these items?
Some sort of pin found in between a couple of buttons.
And some sort of tip for something...
