I had this listed on Help ID my Finds. Thanks to a couple forum members it has been Identified. Thanks guys. I'm always blown away by how smart the people on this forum.
I found this button very near the Santa Fe Trail crossing here in Kansas. The bean field had just been worked over for spring planting. I found several other items which included some lead round balls, old head stamps and some small lead bullets. I did not know what I had when I found the button. Barely could see anything on it until I got home and cleaned it. Still didn't know. Thinking it was a personal initial pin of some sort. Turns out it is a Script 1 Infantry button dating between 1812-1815 Now my oldest find. This place has been hit hard for years. Glad they left something for me.
