Cool Barber quarter with Ford logo stamped on it

1896 Ford Coin

1896 Was the year Henry Ford built his first car, called the quadricycle. Google Henry Ford's first car.

from a quick search, it is unknown exactly when these were counter stamped, with dates ranging from the late 50's (1958) to the early 60's. they might have been part of a promotion, but the Ford Company did not do these. Most likely it was a very bored worker, or a dealer promotion. The dealer promotion might have been, find a coin and win a car, but there have been quite a few found so I do not know if that would be fiscally feasible. Either way it is a cool find.

The other thing is that all of them show the break in the F on the bottom, so it does appear that the same die may have been used

Sweet !!!
A nice little piece of local history and a nice old silver !!!
I'll bet the guys from "DIGGERS" or even "PICKERS" would've loved to score an item like that.........

That is a true coin with character. Not only a older Barber quarter but one with the foundation of American history written upon its face. Congrats on a unique recovery. Trapper
