Anyone ever hunted in NYC. Just looking for tips. Cant touch the parks or at least the battle fields.

Im gonna try Van Cortland Park since i have a maked offical vehicle i can park basicaly

anywhere. Or anyone in NYC care to take a newbie partner along for some hunting?

I havent had any needles yet, BUT! there is a ton of garbage every where

i go in NYC. I found a old beer can buried almost a foot below in Floyd

Bennett Field. This place used to be a airport up until about 60 or 70

years ago. They are in the process of building a sports arena in one of the

biggest aircraft hangers on the property.

What a waste of history.

:(

You should take a look at the book "The Urban Treasure Hunter" by Michael Chaplan. He lives in NYC and the book is all about treasure hunting/metal detecting in urban environments, with the basis being his hunts in NYC.

It's a good read and should provide you with some good tips for hunting in Gotham.

You can hunt at Floyd Bennett Field?? There's got to be some cool stuff around there. Isn't that part of Gateway National Park? If so, National Parks are off limits big time.

Let me know.

Well they were building an outdoor football and soccer field so i, was

asking one of the constrcution workers if he found anything in the area

while he was diggin up the place, ne relpied, "nope".

So i didnt really ask but he didnt say not to either...and i just did it for like

like a minuet or two. I am really new to this hobby and i get a little

anxious.

My Mom is buried at Greenwood Cemetary and for about 30 seconds i was

dreaming and my mouth was watering at the thought of messing around

at Battle Hill, LOL but i not dare!!!

It's just really frustrating.....i wrote to the parks commishoner of the city of

Rochester regarding the use of detectors on parks property. I was emailed

by the parks director that metal detectors are ok to use as long as i do

not damage the lawns and replace any divets i caused.

So thats some good news, in two weeks when i go to visit my son.
