Just wondering who in here occasionally trades the detector for a bow or gun........ Anyone?
Here he is with his bird. I still have never killed one, and he gets one 2 1/2 hours into his first ever hunt. And it was a good one too, just under 21 pounds, 10 1/4" beard, and 1 1/4" spurs. And I edited the photos to make him a little incognito, because my wife and I are leery about putting our 8 year old's face on the internet with all the nutjobs out there. Especially with a gun and dead animal. Too many activists willing to use someone's photo for their personal agenda, like animal rights people.....
Oh, moderators, if this isn't rated "G", I apologize, just remove it and let me know. Thanks.....
I don't tend to trade my equipment off. I do hunt and shoot a fair amount, and last fall I did trade one of my seven crossbows for a jetski & trailer to make some of my water hunts more convenient than messing with the boat.Just wondering who in here occasionally trades the detector for a bow or gun........ I don't tend to trade guns off much either, but over the winter I did sell a shotgun to finance new Stihl MS391 chainsaw because I hadn't used that one for years, and I burn wood for all of my heat. I still have several shotguns, so I didn't really give up anything that I'd miss.
I used to hunt wabbits, quail, coyote and rattlesnakes in AZ. When I was a kid. Have gone deer and turkey hunting but didn't nab anything.
Congrats to your boy on his gobbler! I think that photo is "shopped" though lol.
Congrats!
I will turkey hunt next month here in Missouri however you can only hunt half of the day not in the afternoon so I'll have both detector and shotgun with me but when I leave home for any distance you just never know so I'll always take a detector with me. I've been sorry to many times that I didn't. Good question about the interests of members other than detecting. I always have a book with me as well and love to read. Last fall I took my detector with me during deer season and that's all I did a little hunting with the detector and hanging out with friends never even loaded my rifle and had a blast. Thanks for the out of the ordinary question.
