Starting a new thread to keep up with everything.

Hit my "new" park during lunch today. My first time there and it seems promising. I cant say for certain but it seems like it either isnt hit very often or maybe not at all. Did a lot of walking around checking the place out. Swung under 1 set of seats and found 30 cents worth of clad and some sort of little funky looking nail. I will try and post pictures of that when i get a chance.

Getting back into this after a couple years away. Looking forward to it!

Very nice first outing . Always good to wonder a bit on a new to you locations .
Now get back out there and find the oldest tree in the place .

Thank You! I am excited to get back. The place is huge and will take me a while but thus far i dunno how many people hit it. The things i found above were all but like 3 found under the first (of a ton) of old benches around the area. I was shocked that it hadnt already been taken.

There are some pretty gigantic trees around as well. I brought my sniper coil as i had planned to hunt a wooded area that is the oldest undisturbed area close to where an old house was (as far back as the 30's if not earlier. Assuming my research is correct). Its not as thick as i expected and really wish I had had my 8". The areas i did swing i did extremely slow (after reading DIGGERS post about swinging too fast). So all the finds in probably 20-30 mins tops is promising.

I did hit one tree and got a can about 3" down, also promising as id expect someone to have already dug that as well lol.

Ill keep posting everything I find.

I also have some big object i pulled thats in my bag still. Ill clean that tommorrow to see what it is and post a picture if its not complete garbage. Ill try tonight as well if i can sneak away from the wife lolol

at first glance i thought some sort of Fan.. Super dirty.. If anyone thinks its worth washing off i can do so. whole thing is metal.. probably junk, wasnt too deep, in the woods...

Yard Hunting 1/24/2018

Hitting the yard/booze dump evidently. Literally every signal has been some form of beer can/bottle lol. pieces and tops. Another Shlitz.. not sure if its worth digging around here but trying to get a better feel for my f2. I realize im digging cans but hope to eventually find something semi cool. Found a couple bones, bottle, cans and a 2000 nickel (was next to concrete so i imagine i dropped that at some point lol).

I will post more as i dig more. Hope to get back to the park tomorrow.

Add a 7UP can, vertical dotted so i think around mid 90s on that one. More junk :/. Hope to find something interesting for you guys soon. Sorry for the boring stuff!

On a side note, tracking down the permission for this area:

The house is long gone, i think it may be bank owned.. Gotta double check the assessors site again. Its grown up a bit. Fingers crossed.. seems like a stairway to some good stuff?

Well, ended up only finding a ton of cans and jar lids, a couple bottles, 2 pennies (modern). and this cap, i keep finding all kinds of alcohol related things here at home lol.

Not sure how old the cap is, looking now.

Maybe part of an old alternator/generator?? Or possibly a starter?

Thanks Everyone! Headed back over to the park during lunch. Came back with 51 cents clad, 2 beer cans and a button. I dug a solid 80-83 at the basr of an old tree, pulled out a almost solid black coin and though hm, rubbed a little and saw 1776.. Heart raced a little, yay finally my first old coin, or so i thought. Rubbed a little more and revealed 1776-1976

. quarter.

Maybe one day ill find something good lol. I need an entire day out there.

1/30, 30 Minute Lunch Hunt.

Beer can and Magnum wrapper (ew) not pictured.

Hunted a newer section today, just some clad. Nothing special, learning my F2 atleast. Going to ask permission on the old site today, pictured previously. Hopefully they will allow me to check it out this weekend.

Well back to research.. My first permission request was denied. Stinks because the old site (1920s or so) is right across the road from my house about 30 yards down in the woods. Evidently they are selling it and asked that I hold off for now.

Could have easily went over but wanted to do it right so i called up and asked. They were nice people. Its a 90 acre track of woods across from my house. Would have been sweet to have something so close by. Another site is a little deeper in as well. Darn.

0-1 on permissions. Going to go ahead and try my luck on the next one. The next people use to take me home with them when I was a baby, flash forward 30 years and im gonna ask them to metal detect on one of their properties.. lol I like to think my chances are better on this one but we shall see.
