I am planning a trip to the Galveston, TX area next month. Are the public beaches in the Galveston area open to detecting? Permit required? Preliminary research indicates that detecting in Texas state parks is prohibited without a permit. Are permits issued upon request or do I need to be a state archaeologist? There are numerous Youtube videos showing beach detecting in Texas, but there is no discussion if permission is required. Insight and recommendations are appreciated.

Public beaches are ok to hunt...no permit required....state parks are off-limits. Good luck in Galveston...gets hunted pretty hard....lotsa beach to hunt though....gl and hh!

McFadden beach

do not go to McFadden beach to detect ..they are giving tickets for metal detecting on the public beach
