Pulse Induction machine VS. VHF

Is the opposite of a Pulse Induction machine a VHF machine? If so, could you help me understand the differences. I have seen them talked about seperately in different posts, but could not find side by side comparison.

I guess the question I really had was, in Mid TN, is there a "better" machine to have? I will probably be looking for civil war relics at best and coins at worst. I go to the beach 2-3 times a year is there a "better" machine for my situation?
