Help with research

Hey guys, so i'm sorry if this is annoying but I am seeking some assistance in researching good hunting areas in LA, Ventura, and Orange Counties. I did a bunch of looking into old topo maps in the fall but found almost all of the places I checked had been resod and had that lame green plastic mesh not one of them producing a target before 1970 in the 150 odd targets that I dug. any help or ideas and research tools would be excellent.
