Bull Durham charm

I found this over the weekend at an old farmhouse site.
At first I thought it was a small scrap of lead or copper.

I know Bull Durham was a tobacco sold back in the day, but why the hole on top?

Also, the bottom part which was bent over appears to be the "ground" he was once standing on.

I think the coolest thing is that it was made in the 1930's by the Schwaab Stamp Company right here in Milwaukee. They are still in business, and recently relocated next door to my company!
