Help id - part 2

Found this in the same general area where i found a bunch of iron stove parts. The first pic shows a side view. The second pic is a close up to show the little scallop shapes on the top of the curved piece and the notch on the underside. You can also see that there is a pin or pivot point right at the elbow. The last pic is a top view to show the area that looks like where you might hold it with thumb and forefinger or push it down. It is rusty and has a big rusty growth (black) but you can kinda see the scallop shape of this part. Any help would be appreciated

I think you have a thumb latch for a door.

Thanks! That seems like a great call. The tab just fits a thumb perfectly. I was really hoping that it was a musket or rifle part but after an hour looking at pictures i ruled that out. I also found a porcelain doorknob within about 20 feet of this. Thanks again - would have never guessed that.
