Spoons..bust em out...

Here is my spoon hoard I found last year after a lot of research and thanks to a mint mark found in the bowl of one of the spoons. I dated the oldest one back to the late 1500s.

Bandsons,

I like that spoon! I wonder if it was made bent like that, to make it easier for a baby to eat with? I have seen spoons made that way if I remember right..

Nice work all!

Thank you! Your spoon is epic!

I don't think they made it bent... but being that it is such a tiny spoon, i love it. Somebody was born with a silver spoon in their mouth and I found it burred in the dirt!

Here is my best silver spoon found at a private residence in town. Also found a couple of silver coins in the same yard.

A couple of mine, I guess the tiny spoon is a salt spoon.

This is the best one I've ever found. It's a sterling "Three Little Pigs" spoon.

Nice spoons all!!

Pescador, that one looks really fancy, I like how on some, the design of the handle flows onto the bowl...

U.P., those pigs are really cool!

here is mine

found in a old yard near my old house. Found the maker on the back. He was a well known silver smith from an affluent town nearby. circa 1880

Here is a partial collections of my less-desirable spoons from this year (actually there are a few that are quite nice, just incomplete) - at least a dozen more kicking around here somewhere including a few big ladles...
Lastly, a late 1800's/early 1900's baby spoon whose handle was flattened out in the soil...

Ice Scratcher, Your spoon comes from the period known as "Art Nouveau", literally new art. This stylistic movement flourished between 1890 - 1910. Alphonse Mucha a Czech artist produced a lithograph of the famous Sarah Bernhardt. It was a completely new style of art which quickly became popular. The Mucha Style influenced other great artists and designers of the period Klimt, Mackintosh, Lalique, Gaudi and Tiffany! The patent stamp says 1902 which is the date the patent was issued. Hence the spoon had to have been manufactured after that date!

Nice spoons everybody. BB i like how you set the spoons up on the window ledge, looks cool. Now if i can only get a real silver spoon so far its been real plated lol. HH all
